We at Lionheart K9 are striving to produce a large, sound, trainable dog that will be good with
children and other animals, that still pocesses the natural instinct to protect it's family. Our dogs and their
pups live in our home with us. Our puppies are subjected to small children, cats, strange dogs of all sizes,
as well as horses, goats, and donkeys every day. We start working with each pup individually at 5 weeks and
by 8 weeks they are walking on lead, on the left, sitting, coming when called, and taught a leave it command. We
not only start the obedience, but we also ask the pups to follow us at feeding time in the barn-yard area, so they learn
to stay with the handler off lead. The puppies are all house trained on a schedual before leaveing our facility
and they are completely comfortable in a crate. Each pup is evaluated to assist us in matching our clients with
the pup that is suited best for them. Each of our pups comes with on-line obedience classes to continue what we
have started. We have found this to be a great asset for our clients and our pups. We want our clients to
enjoy our dogs and the best way to do that is to help build a bridge of communication between the two. We know that
people need a pup that can come into a new home and adjust quickly without having "Accidents" all over the new carpet.
We teach the "leave it " to give our clients some control over their new family member and we work with our
pups on lead so our new owners can take their new "baby" out into the public without having to carry it. We
at Lionheart k9 believe that everyone deserves a better German Shepherd Dog, and we also believe that the way we raise our
pups combined with the stock we breed will produce such an animal. Please visit our "Studs and Dams" page
for more information on our parents.
